About Me

Hello! I'm a freelance writer currently based in Boston.

I previously worked as a feature reporter at the Las Vegas Review-Journal. During my time there, I covered festivals like Electric Daisy Carnival and Burning Man, the MAGIC fashion trade show, public art, health trends and the various projects and passions of Las Vegans.

In May 2016 I graduated cum laude from Occidental College in Los Angeles with a bachelor's degree in diplomacy and world affairs. I put a lot of my time there toward the Occidental Weekly, where I worked in multiple roles throughout my four years including writer, copy editor and arts and entertainment editor.

Some of the most significant stories I covered were about the ongoing student protests and week-long occupation of an administrative building over the college administration's handling of race and diversity issues in November 2015. The stories I wrote during that time won third place in the news series category of the 2016 California College Media Association awards. I also spoke about the divide between campus activists and campus journalists on a keynote panel at the Associated Collegiate Press's 2016 Midwinter National College Journalism Convention.

When I'm not on assignment, I'm thinking about where I could travel next. This preoccupation took me to Uganda for six weeks in the summer of 2014 to write about the business ventures of women in the Mbale slum for the nonprofit 1000 Shillings and to northern India in the fall of 2014 to study sustainable development and social change.

Outside of my work as a writer and reporter, I spend my time consuming near-future sci-fi, training for the occasional half-marathon, hanging out at rooftop bars and getting out in nature whenever possible.

Please get in touch! I am available to write stories, copy edit, transcribe and manage social media accounts.

Writing

It creates a sense of place. Art really allows for a community to embrace itself and embrace the art as a community that cares.
